BUENA VISTA, Va.—Despite taking the third set and close losses in the second and fourth sets, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team fell to Randolph College on the road in four sets, 21-25, 26-28, 25-16, 23-25 Friday night at the RAD Center in Lynchburg, Va.

The loss brings the Knights to 12-9 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 11-9. Southern Virginia defeated Randolph in straight sets on Oct. 10 when the Wildcats visited Knight Sports Arena.

"Randolph came out to win and we were constantly reacting to their great plays and not making our own," said head coach Paige Hiatt. We battled hard but couldn't consistently string points together."

Junior Kaitlyn Eaton led the Knights with 14 kills on the night with senior Tori Tuttle close behind with 12. Senior Shyanne Ison and sophomore Melynda Boren each posted eight kills while sophomore Shannon Romito earned four.

Sophomore Katelynn Tlustek led Southern Virginia with 38 assists during the game while freshman April Bennett achieved four service aces. Bennett also had 31 digs on the night to lead Southern Virginia's defensive efforts. Both Tuttle and Eaton had a solo block while Tuttle was in on two block assists.

The Wildcats' Jordan Templin led the way for Randolph with 21 kills during the game with Marissa McClinton and Noelle Wojciechowski contributing nine apiece.

The Knights get right back into action tomorrow as they host the Southern Virginia Tri-Match Saturday afternoon. Southern Virginia plays Penn State Harrisburg at noon in a conference matchup before facing Roanoke College at 4 p.m. Penn State Harrisburg and Roanoke will square off in a neutral match at 2 p.m.
