Knights Fall to Eagles

BRIDGEWATER, Va.—On Saturday morning the Knights' volleyball team fell 3-2 on the road in a tight non-conference match at Bridgewater College.

Southern Virginia (4-15, 0-2 CAC) started strong earning victories in the first two sets 25-16 and 25-22. The Eagles responded and came back to life with a 25-19 win in the third set. The Eagles continued to battle and took the fourth and fifth sets 25-22 and 15-13 to earn the win over the Knights.

Allison Tiegs and Hannah Phillips were solid offensively with 20 and 13 kills at the net. Outside hitter Claire Houghtaling contributed to the attack with 10 kills. Southern Virginia's setter, Valerie Baety, recorded 45 assists. Ofa Moa-Sam Fong and teammate Delaney Layton held the defense with 21 and 15 digs.

Bridgewater (5-12, 2-4 ODAC) was led on the attack with Rachel Kinsey with 16 kills. Macon Frey controlled the defensive stop with 23 digs.
