Marlins Beat Knights

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Southern Virginia volleyball lost their third consecutive match of the season against Virginia Wesleyan 3-1 in the Knights Sports Arena on Friday evening. 

The Marlins captured the first set 25-21. In set two the Knights responded with a 27-25 win. Virginia Wesleyan sealed the victory with taking the last two sets 25-14 and 25-20. 

The Knights (5-19, 0-5 CAC) were led on the attack by outside hitter Hannah Phillips and middle blocker Melissa Owen with 12 and 11 kills. Valerie Baety and Delaney Layton recorded two aces each. Libero Ofa Moa-Sam Fong tallied 29 digs for the defense. Adding to the defensive stop was her teammate Claire Houghtaling with 19 digs.

The Marlins' (22-7, 9-1 ODAC) Tiffany Barrett led her team with 17 kills and 16 digs.
