BUENA VISTA, Va.—On Saturday afternoon the Knights honored their seniors, Melissa Owen and Katelynn Tlustek, with a 3-0 sweep against Penn St. Harrisburg, their first conference win of the season (25-21, 25-13, 25-14).
Tlustek, who had only played the first half of the season because of a knee injury, had her last start in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
Southern Virginia's (6-19, 1-5 CAC) Hannah Phillips dominated the offense with 14 kills. Delaney Layton added to the attack with six serve aces. The defense was led by Ofa Moa-Sam Fong with 12 kills.
The Lions' (9-15, 0-7 CAC) defense was led by libero Kari Ammerman with 14 total digs.
The Knights' led the Lions 31 to 27 kills and earned a 10 to 17 error advantage.
The Knights head on the road to continue their conference play in a rescheduled game against York College of Pennsylvania in York, Pa. on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
