No. 17 Frostburg Rolls On Undefeated Over Men's Lacrosse

Box Score

By Nick Porter

BUENA VISTA, Va.—After a thirty-minute lightning delay the Knights' quick three-goal start wasn't enough as they allowed the most goals in program history and fell to No. 17 Frostburg State 31-4 at home.

The Bobcats (14-0, 5-0 CAC) struck first, scoring less than two minutes into the game, but the Knights (1-12, 0-6 CAC) answered back with three goals in three minutes, to take a two-goal lead.

Freshman midfielder Russell Anderson scored the first goal for Southern Virginia in the fourth minute of play and then assisted freshman attack Anthony Good to take the lead. Just a minute later, in the seventh minute, Sean Peterson would score and unassisted goal to put the Knights up 3-1.

It looked as though the Knights would hold onto the lead until Frostburg scored two goals in the last 90 seconds of the first quarter to take a 4-3 lead after one.

The Knights wouldn't score again until Knights' goal-leader Casey Rich would win a faceoff and score an unassisted goal with 2:42 left in the game.

During the Knights' two-quarter scoring drought Frostburg had 21 of their 31 goals, including 13 in the third quarter.

CAC goal leader Nick Stailey led all scorers with four goals for Frostburg.

Men's lacrosse is back in action on Saturday as they hit their home turf against the Spartans of York College (Pa.). Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at The Fields in Buena Vista, Virginia.
