Volleyball Swept by Averett

LEXINGTON, Va.—In game one of the Washington and Lee tournament Averett University earned a win over the Knights in just three sets on Friday in Dormus Gym.

The Cougars (6-1) began the tournament with a strong attack taking the first two sets 25-15 and 25-19. Southern Virginia (1-6) fought back in the 3rd set, but was unable to keep a lead falling to the Cougars 25-21.

Freshman Allison Tiegs led the Knights' attack with 12 kills. Freshman Ofa Moa-Sam Fong piloted the defense with 17 digs. Katelynn Tlustek and Hannah Phillips had 10 and 13 digs, respectively.

Averett's attack was led by sophomore Hannah Shields, who led all players with 22 kills.
