YORK & MIDDLETOWN, Pa.—The Southern Virginia women's volleyball team lost to York College of Pennsylvania in five games on Friday night and swept Penn St.-Harrisburg Saturday evening in their weekend  double header.

"I'm really proud of the way we played (this weekend)," head coach Nicole Gwynn said, "we were mentally strong, and did a good job minimizing errors overall."

On Friday the Knights (5-12, 2-3 CAC) lost sets one and two 20-25 to York (19-7, 3-3 CAC) before beating them 31-29 and 25-19 in sets three and four. The Spartans took the fifth set 15-8.
Penny Gwynn led the attack with 18 kills while Allison Tiegs and Hannah Allred added 10. Allred led all players with 31 digs.

Saturday night the Knights dominated in three sets, sweeping the Lions (6-14, 1-5 CAC) 25-8, 25-17 and 25-9. Tiegs recorded 11 kills and Hannah Hosier led with 12 digs. Southern Virginia had a season high of 10 serving aces as a team.

Fourteen players saw floor time in the sweep, "the starters took care of their jobs tonight. They made a decision to win, and worked extremely hard, allowing other players to come in and step up."

Southern Virginia is back in action on Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup with Virginia Wesleyan. They then return home for a homecoming weekend doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.
