Women's Volleyball Sweeps St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S, Md. — The Southern Virginia women's volleyball team started the final weekend of regular season Capital Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.), led by 13 kills from Hannah Allred and Penny Gwynn.

The Knights (19-7, 6-2 CAC) gave up the first two points of the first set before taking a lead they wouldn't relinquish, taking the set 25-19. In similar fashion, the Knights won the second set 25-19 before holding a lead through the entire third set in a 25-16 victory. 

Hannah Allred led Southern Virginia with her double-double of 13 kills and 13 digs along with four service aces. LaRee Crockett, who became the Knights single-season recorded holder for assists in the Division-III era, dished 35 assists in the win.

Defensively Mykynli Knight had 19 digs in the win.

Southern Virginia will play their final regular-season CAC game tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Marymount University. If the Knights win, they will earn a No. 2 or 3 seed in the CAC tournament. In order to place second, York (Pa.) needs to beat Mary Washington.
