YORK, Pa. – The Southern Virginia University baseball team fell to York College of Pennsylvania in a freezing cold double header on Monday afternoon.
The Knights (6-15, 0-3 CAC) fell 7-4 and 7-2 in the series that was pushed from Saturday to Monday because of weather.
The Spartans (6-3, 2-0 CAC) scored all seven of their runs in the first seven innings, including four earned runs off of starting pitcher Seth Burris.
Southern Virginia answered back in the eighth inning with four hits and four runs before their first out. During the inning, Josh Hilburn, Ryan Morin, Cole Crithfield and Zach McNally singled. Hilburn, Morin, Crithchfield and Ryan Saunders later scored.
Both teams left seven runners on base during the game, Burris recorded two strikeouts. Skyler Cloward recorded the Knights only double of game one.
In the second game, both teams scored early, with three York runs in the first and a run for the Knights in the second and third innings. A Justin King RBI-single scored Austen Hammond in the second, while Ryan Saunders doubled and scored on a Critchfield RBI in the third.
The Spartans scattered a few more runs throughout the game to finish 7-2.
Riley Daniels was tagged with the loss with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched.
The Knights are back in action at home against Frostburg State. Wednesday's game has been postponed with a reschedule date to be determined.
