Women's Lacrosse Downed by Captains

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team fell 19-2 against Capital Athletic Conference opponent Christopher Newport University Thursday afternoon.

The Captains (7-2, 2-0 CAC) scored two goals in the first 30 seconds of the game to take an early lead. Zoe Bradshaw scored a goal of her own in the second minute before Claire Houghtaling scored off an assist from Rachel Thomas in the 11th minute. Christopher Newport scored eight goals to take a 12-2 lead at halftime and scored seven more in the second half.

The Knights (3-7, 0-2 CAC) were outshot 33-6. Madilyn Krauss and Keilani Torres-Lopez split time in goal for Southern Virginia. Krauss recorded four saves and Torres-Lopez had five.

Southern Virginia travels to #10 Salisbury University on Saturday, March 24 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
