BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 to Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount University Wednesday afternoon.
Marymount (9-3, 1-3 CAC) found the back of the net two minutes into the game to take an early lead, but Ashley Lessing answered with a goal of her own to even it at one. Marymount finished the first half on a 12-2 run to take a controlling lead at the break. The Knights (3-9, 0-4 CAC) created one last attack in the final minutes of the game to get their fourth goal.
Zoe Bradshaw, the CAC's second leading scorer, led the Knights with two goals. Lessing and Claire Houghtaling each contributed a goal. Kelsey Johnson tallied the lone assist for the Knights.
Southern Virginia was outshot 30-10. Madilynn Krauss and Keilani Torres-Lopez split time in goal. Krauss recorded an impressive nine saves and Torres-Lopez added one.
The Knights travel to nationally ranked University of Mary Washington on April 1. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.
