Knights Extend Home Win Streak

Box Score

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team continued their dominance at home, sweeping Penn St.-Harrisburg 3-0.

The Knights (11-5, 2-1) remain unbeaten thus far at home, with a 4-0 record after today's win.

In the first set, the Knights fed off the energy of Knight Sports Arena, building a commanding lead to take the Lions (9-11, 1-2) out of the set, winning 25-15.

The Lions looked to get themselves back into the game in the second set but once again the Knights continued their dominant performance, winning the set 25-19.

The third set was also the final set. The Lions battled to extend the game but Southern Virginia was able to close the game out with a Hailey Lohnes service ace, with the final score 26-24.

The Knights did not have a standout offensive performance but instead they operated a  balanced attack with four players registering five or more kills. Senior Allison Tiegs led the Knights with the most all-around game, with team-high seven kills, three blocks and six digs.

The Knights play next at Bridgewater Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
