BUENA VISTA, Va. – Behind an aggressive offense, the Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team won a decisive 17-3 victory over Sweet Briar College at home on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights (5-6) took control of the game early on, scoring the first 10 goals of the game before Sweet Briar (0-8) could respond. The first half saw a good mixture of players contributing to the Knights' tally, including goals from Natalie Rice, Ashley Lessing, Miklain Hardy, Jesse Case, Lauren Thatcher Hannah King, Caiti Knowles, and Remington Jarvis.
During the second half, the Knights were able to dish in six more goals, bringing the final goal count to 17.
Goaltender Madilyn Krauss shined in front of the net as she was able to save over half of the shots on goal during the game.
Hardy, Rice, and King finished with two goals each. Thatcher dished three assists in the win.
Madie Dibble, Holley Ryan, Katie Smith, Anna Walters, Sydney Winterton, and Hannah Thayn each scored their first goal on the season for the Knights in the second half.
On Friday, the Knights will travel to St. Mary's, Maryland to take on St. Mary's College at 3:00 p.m.
