Knights Get Swept at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia women's volleyball team had its four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as they fell to the University of Mary Washington by a score of 3-0.

The Knights (9-4, 1-1 CAC) struggled to get in a rhythm in the first set, falling 25-14. There was improvement in the second set, however, as the Knights led 9-7, but couldn't finish the deal in the 25-20 loss. Set three was more of the same as the Eagles (10-8, 2-1 CAC) took it 25-13.

Freshman Ella Burrows led Southern Virginia in kills with five, while Lindsay Hyer, Hailey Lohnes, and Allison Tiegs finished with four each.

The bright side for the Knights finishing the game with 14 block assists to the Eagles' six. Tiegs led the squad with five, and burrows had four.

Southern Virginia will pause their conference schedule on Tuesday as they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on Eastern Mennonite University. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
