Box Score FREDRICKSBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team fell to the University of Mary Washington in three sets by the score of 25-14, 25-19, 25-22.
Junior Kaely Rath provided a valiant effort on the night with a .312 hitting average while adding seven kills. Freshman Courtney Singleton's led the Knights (14-10) with a game-high nine kills. LaRee Crockett dished out a game-high 13 assists, and senior Mykynli Knight led the Knights with 12 digs.
Mary Washington (12-12) dominated in the first set, doubling up the Knights midway through the set as the Eagles took an early lead in the match 1-0.
Southern Virginia started sharp early in the second set, leading midway through the set before the Eagles outscored the Knights 7-2 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set three was the most challenging win for the Eagles. The Knights held a 21-20 lead before getting outscored 5-1 to complete the sweep for Mary Washington.
Southern Virginia travels to Salisbury University on Saturday, October 26, to take on the Seagulls at 2 pm.
