Box Score YORK, Pa. — Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team (11-6) was dealt their second conference loss of the season falling to York College (Pa.) (13-9) in four sets.
Senior Ryan Dubinsky performed at a high level for the Knights hitting .333 on the night, along with eight kills to go with her performance. Freshman Courtney Singleton played well defensively having a game-high 37 digs, and junior Taryn Warner had a dominant night at the net with seven blocks.
Setters Elle Warnick and LaRee Crockett split minutes, dishing out a combined 26 assists. Warnick had a game-high 17 assists while Crockett had nine. Singleton and Warnick each had two service aces to round out the statistics.
York College (Pa.) came out with strong on their senior night and managed to put pressure on the Knights by winning the first set of the match.
Southern Virginia answered back with a dominant performance in the second set. Blocks from Taryn Warner and kills from Kaely Rath help lift the Knights to a set win and tie up the match.
The Knights came out hot in the third set, but the Spartans were able to use a solid strategy to break through and take the lead midway through the set to College claim their second win of the game.
Using the momentum from the third set, York again jump to a convincing lead. Strong defensive plays from senior Mykynli Knight and freshman Emma Steiger help delay the Spartan's victory while Taryn Warner and Lindsay Wiedrich continued their efforts at the net blocking multiple attacks, but York (Pa.) eventually took the set and match win.
Southern Virginia will return home to Knight Arena, where they will take on Mary Washington on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7 pm.
