Knights Drop CAC Opener to Spartans

YORK, Pa.—The Southern Virginia University men's baseball team lost their opening game of CAC play at York College of Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon, 6-3.

The Knights (8-3, 0-1 CAC) found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the third inning after the Spartans (5-1, 1-0 CAC) scored a run in both the second and third innings.

The Knights responded, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth as Canon Anderson doubled to left field bringing home Bridger Taylor for their first run of the game. A few moments later, Hunter Blunt singled to second base to bring home Canon Anderson, tying up the game at two.

In the fifth, Southern Virginia added a run as Cole Critchfield scored on a Canon Anderson single to right field.

The rest of the game was all Spartans as they scored another four runs to hand the Knights the loss in the conference opener.

On the game, Southern Virginia had one more hit than York, 11-10 as well as posting three more strikeouts, 10-7.

The Knights will look to revenge their loss to the Spartans as the teams will play another two games against one another on the 16th of March at 12 and 3 p.m.
