Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team took down the Wildcats of Randolph College 23-12 on Monday evening in their final home game of the regular season.
The Knights (9-8) came out on fire, scoring the first eight goals of the game before Randolph (2-13) was finally able to find the back of the net at the 15:06 mark. Southern Virginia was then able to outscore the Wildcats 6-3 in the final fifteen minutes of the half, taking a 14-4 lead into the locker-room.
In the second, Randolph scored the first three goals cutting the deficit to seven, 14-7. The Knights then scored three of the games next four goals, and further extended their lead to double-digits by the end of the game, downing the Wildcats 23-12.
Megan Barfuss led the way for the Southern Virginia on her Senior night with eight points on two goals and a game-high six assists. Lauren Thatcher also had a big game with four goals and three assists, while Chloe Mitchell added a game-high five goals.
The Knights doubled the Wildcats in Draw Controls on the game, 24-12 and picked up 29 ground balls compared to 18 from Randolph.
The Knights continue play on the 27th of April as they will travel to Pennsylvania to face off against No. 8 York College of Pennsylvania in the first round of the CAC tournament.
