Box Score STAUNTON, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team earned their fifth consecutive victory Wednesday night, sweeping Mary Baldwin in a USA South Conference matchup.

First Set:
- Mary Baldwin kept the set close, staying within one point of Southern Virginia 10-9
- The Knights began to pull away using kills from Courtney Pinkston, Brenna Clyde, and Sydney Hopkin to jump to a 17-12 lead before the Squirrels called a timeout
- Southern Virginia closed out the set with an 8-2 run, highlighted by two Julia Monson aces and two more Sydney Hopkin kills
Second Set:
- The Knights raced to a quick 12-5 advantage at the beginning of the second, led by two more Julia Monson aces
- Southern Virginia made quick work of set two, outscoring Mary Baldwin 13-8 to take the 2-0 lead in the game
Third Set:
- Jilane Pedersen jumped into the action in the third set, recording two kills to help the team jump to an 8-3 lead
- After a timeout near the end of the set and the score of 18-11, the Knights dominantly closed the game, outscoring the Fighting Squirrels 7-2
- Sydney Hopking led the way with three more kills, while Julia Monson tallied her sixth and seventh ace
Southern Virginia heads into their final regular-season weekend, facing off against Salem and Pfeiffer Saturday, October 30. Game one is scheduled for noon, and game two is slated for 4 pm.
