BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University field hockey team earned their first program victory Friday night, taking down Meredith College 1-0 in Knight Stadium. 

Game Notes

• The Knights' offense put out a strong performance, recording five shots on goal, with Paige Anderson tallying two
• Whitney Victory anchored the defense, denying multiple scoring opportunities by the Avenging Angels
• Keira White stood tall, recording two saves and stopping various passes by Meredith, and earning her first win in cage
• In the 17th minute, Rachel Emel scored her first career goal, putting the Knights up 1-0
• The Knights' defense fought to the end, denying the final scoring opportunity by the Avenging Angels with nine seconds left

Southern Virginia will take on Meredith again on the road on Wednesday, November 3. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
