Box Score BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team took on Averett University in the USA South Conference Quarterfinals Tuesday night in Knight Arena. The Knights advanced to the Semifinals after sweeping the Cougars 3-0.

- Southern Virginia started the game hot, jumping to a 14-9 lead, led by two Sydney Hopkin kills
- Averett managed to take the lead, following a 9-3 scoring run, but Jilane Pedersen ignited a quick 4-0 run to jump back up 21-18
- The Knights managed to outscore the Cougars 4-3 to take the 1-0 lead in the match with a final Elle Warnick kill
- Southern Virginia started the second set strong, doubling up Averett 10-5 early, taking advantage of eight errors by the Cougars
- Averett tied up the game at 15, and both teams went back and forth until Courtney Pinkston sparked a final 5-1 scoring run to go up 2-0 in the match
- The Knights found themselves down 6-4 to start the final set, but Southern Virginia took the 9-8 lead after Mallory Rath dished out a service ace
- With the score at 13-14 in favor of Averett, Elle Warnick set up Sydney Hopkin for a kill to spark an 11-2 run to close out the game, completing the sweep
Southern Virginia will host the Scots of Covenant on Friday, November 5, in Knight Arena. Game time is slated for 6:30 pm.
