Box Score BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team hosted the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals in Knight Arena, taking on Covenant College. Southern Virginia advanced to the program's first conference championship game with the 3-1 victory over the Scots.

"I am so proud of the girls, and I love them so much. These girls are working so hard to achieve these accomplishments, and it makes it even better to play in front of such an amazing crowd. It is so much fun to play here, and I am excited for our school. We have to come out tomorrow playing to win."

- The Knights came out hot, feeding off of the crowd's energy, building an early 10-4 lead off of four Courtney Pinkston kills
- Both teams traded runs, but the Scots managed to come within one point following a block from Meriel Chupp and Grace Logterman
- Overtime was needed in the first set when Emma Kalbfleisch tied the game at 24
- After a timeout from Southern Virginia, the Knights took advantage of the ensuing service error to come within set point
- Elle Warnick set up Courtney Pinkston on the next play, connecting for the kill to take the 1-0 lead in the match 26-24
- Southern Virginia found themselves down 8-6 at the start of the second set, but Brenna Clyde sparked an 8-1 scoring run to go up 14-9

- Jilane Pedersen sparked the following scoring run for Southern Virginia, going up 23-16 late in the second set
- Elle Warnick wrapped up the set with a kill of her own, ending the set with the 25-19 win to go up 2-0
- Covenant prevented the sweep in the third set, winning the third 25-22, forcing a fourth set
- The Knights raced to a 9-4 lead to start the fourth set led by three Courtney Pinkston kills
- Southern Virginia maintained their five-point lead the rest of the set, setting up the 22-15 lead
- The Scots managed to get off a 7-2 scoring run to come within two points 21-23, but Breanna Clyde and Sydney Hopkin recorded a kill each to secure the 3-1 victory
Southern Virginia takes on Meredith in the USA South Conference Championship game in Knight Arena Saturday, November 6. Game time is slated for 3 pm.
