SALEM, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's field hockey team fell to Roanoke College Wednesday night 10-1 in a road contest matchup. 

Game Notes

• The Maroons opened the game with three quick goals to go up 3-0 led by two Emilee Wooten goals
• Elizabeth Sorto cut the deficit to two goals 3-1, scoring her second goal of the season off of a Lexia Clements assist
• Roanoke capped off the first half, scoring three more goals and extending their lead to five 6-1 before the halftime intermission
• The Maroons offense came alive in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals, while the defense stood firm, holding the Knights scoreless and securing the 10-1 victory

Southern Virginia takes on Bridgewater College Friday night, September 17, for the Knights home opener. Game time is slated for 6:30 pm.
