Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team continued their winning streak on Saturday, sweeping William Peace in game one and defeating Meredith 3-1 in a hard-fought victory.

Tournament Notes
Game One:
- The Knights dominated early, going up 15-9 in the first set led by four Courtney Pinkston kills
- Southern Virginia made quick of set one, taking the 1-0 lead 25-15
- The second set followed script of the first set, with the Knights wasting no time taking the 2-0 lead in the match, taking advantage of William Peace's errors
- Sydney Hopkin led all players in the second set with two kills
- Set three was hard-fought for the Knights, trailing 16-10 midway through the set
- Katelyn Chamberlain came up with a huge solo block that sparked an 11-2 scoring run to put the squad up 21-18
- The Knights completed the sweep, outscoring the Pacers 6-5 the remainder of the set.
Game Two:
- After falling in the first set and trailing 1-0 in the match, Southern Virginia began to make their moves
- The second set saw both teams knotted at nine at the beginning of the set, led by two Brenna Clyde kills
- Each team traded the lead until the end of the set when Elle Warnick and Taryn Kartchner made a huge block that ignited a 5-0 scoring run to put them up 23-19
- Courtney Pinkston closed the set with a kill from an Elle Warnick assist to tie the game at 1-1
- The third set saw Southern Virginia down 12-9 midway through the set, but a 9-3 run led by two Sydney Hopkin kills put the team up 18-15
- Meredith answered with a 6-1 run of their own, but the Knights closed out the set and taking the 2-1 lead with six unanswered points led by four Courtney Pinkston kills
- With momentum on their side, Southern Virginia dominated the final set of the game
- After being tied 5-5 early on, the Knights used a 12-4 run to gain a comfortable 17-9 advantage led by Sydney Hopkin and Elle Warnick connecting for four kills
- Eyeing the victory, Southern Virginia locked in the win, scoring an 8-3 run with Courtney Pinkston and Elle Warnick connecting for three points
The Knights head back on the road, taking on Averett University for a No.1 versus No.2 conference showdown on Wednesday, September 29. Game time is slated for 6 pm.
