Johnson's Record Setting Game Leads Southern Virginia Women's Lacrosse Over Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, NC. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team locked in their first victory of the year Thursday night, downing Methodist University 16-8.

Game Notes

  • Alissa Johnson took over early, scoring the first goal of the game unassisted just over one minute into the contest
  • Tyler John and Addison England added goals to help the team head into the second quarter with the 5-3 lead
  • After a scoreless second quarter by the Knights, Adelaide Smith scored the team's first goal of the second half, making the new score 6-5
  • Alissa Johnson closed out the third quarter, scoring five consecutive goals to extend Southern Virginia's lead to five, 11-6 heading into the final quarter
  • The Knights dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Monarchs 5-2 to lock in the 16-8 victory
  • Addison England, Adelaide Smith, and Tyler John flanked Johnson's eight goals with a pair each, while Piper Searle, and Chloe Mitchel each added a goal

Southern Virginia will look to build on the win, taking on Kenyon in Knight Stadium on Saturday, March 12. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
