BUENA VISTA, VA. — After three weeks on the road, the Southern Virginia University Women's Volleyball team returns home on Tuesday, September 27, welcoming Washington & Lee to Knight Arena.
The Series
The two teams meet for the 19
th time in program history, with the first matchup coming back in 2009 while the most recent meeting coming two weeks ago on September 10, where the Generals survived with a 3-2 victory.
In the previous match,
Courtney Pinkston recorded 18 kills, while
Sydney Hopkin added 12.
Jilane Pedersen and
Emma Steiger held down the defense, with Pedersen recording five blocks while Steiger tallied 26 digs.
The Generals took the first set, but the Knights rallied, taking the second set 25-20, with
Sydney Hopkin recording the final kill.
After W&L took the third set, Southern Virginia used a late set comeback in the fourth, topped off by a final kill from Pinkston to force the fifth set.
In the final set, the Generals got up 6-2 early and did not look back. A final 4-0 run locked in the five-set victory for Washington & Lee.
