Knights Field Hockey Falls in Overtime to Mustangs

Box Score MORRISVILLE, NY. – Southern Virginia's Women's Field Hockey team fell in overtime to SUNY Morrisville
Saturday in their second game of the season.

The Knights got on the board first in the 23 rd minute off a Karenna Olson goal from the top of the circle,
capping off a great team goal. Midfielder Carly Hoffer started the fast break and found teammate Avery
Anderson with a beautiful pass. Anderson carried the ball forward and then dropped it off to Elizabeth
Sorto who weaved past two defenders and got off a shot that was saved by the Mustangs goalkeeper.
The ball eventually found its way to the stick of Olson who snuck the ball past three defenders and the
goalkeeper for her second goal of the season.

The Mustangs evened the score line with a goal towards the end of the third quarter. The ball was
passed to the middle of the field and was swiped in by a Mustang player.

Regulation ended with the score tied at one. After just 2 minutes of play in overtime the Mustangs had a
two on one opportunity and were able to find the goal.

Southern Virginia will continue their season on the road against Transylvania University on Monday,
September 5.
