FAYETTEVILLE, NC. – Southern Virginia University's Cheer Team had an outstanding performance at the 2023 CCA Nationals over the weekend. The team scored an impressive 29.5 out of 30 for Collegiate Representation, demonstrating their ability to represent their school with pride and excellence.
"The Grand Champion award has been on our team's bucket list for a while now, and they were determined to win it this year," exclaimed Head Coach Neely Pendleton. "I'm so incredibly proud of their determination and representation of Knight Nation this weekend!"
The Knights competed a total of four times on Saturday, twice in the afternoon and twice in the evening finals. Despite the grueling schedule, the team maintained their energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.
The team received zero deductions in the first round of Traditional, showcasing their technical skills and precision. This was an excellent start to the day, and Southern Virginia continued to impress with their second round of Game Time, once again receiving zero deductions.
Overall, the Knights scored 92.8 out of a possible 100 points in traditional and 95.6 out of 100 in Game Time, which is an outstanding achievement. The team's performance was a testament to their dedication, hard work, and talent.
Southern Virginia proved to be a formidable opponent in the recent competition, showing that their hard work and dedication can pay off significantly.
