Farmington, Pa. – The Southern Virginia University women's golf team wrapped up play at the Tartan Invitational, hosted at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, finishing 10th in a strong 15-team field that featured some of the top Division III programs in the nation, including Emory, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, and Washington & Lee. It was the strongest field the Knights have ever competed in, and the team delivered one of its most impressive performances to date.

The Knights' efforts were highlighted by Sydney Richards, who put together a record-breaking 36-hole performance, opening with a 66 (-6) in round one and following it up with a 73 (+1) in round two. Her 139 (-5) total shattered her own 36-hole program record set last season. Richards finished 4th overall, placing among the top Division III golfers in the country, while tallying 11 birdies over the two rounds.

The rest of the team showed steady improvement throughout the tournament, especially from day one to day two. CC Banz finished T-51st with rounds of 82 and 78, highlighted by a perfectly struck par-3 birdie during round two.

Addison Branham and Quinn Foulger both bounced back after challenging opening rounds of 90, with Branham firing an impressive 76 on day two to finish T-66th (166) and Foulger closing with a 79 to place 70th.

Madison Frisby and Lexi Leavitt rounded out the Knights' lineup with consistent contributions. Leavitt opened with an 81 on day one, while Frisby responded with a strong 82 on day two, helping solidify the team's record-breaking performance.

Overall, the tournament marked a record 36-hole team score and reflected the group's continued improvement and resilience against elite competition.

The Knights now turn their focus to the Bulle Rock Invitational, hosted by Alvernia University in Havre de Grace, Maryland, on October 14th.
