Buena Vista, Va. — The Southern Virginia University freshman Carter Damron has made program history, becoming the first Knight men's golfer to be named USA South Rookie of the Year.
Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Damron has turned in an impressive debut season, averaging 77.3 strokes per round across six events during the regular season.
He recorded one top-five finish, two top-10 finishes, and posted a low round of 72. He was also recognized as the USA South Rookie Golfer of the Week on two separate occasions.
In addition to Damron's recognition, senior Mason Schlensker was selected to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team, honoring his leadership, character, and contributions to the program throughout his collegiate career.
This season also marked a significant step forward for the Knights as a team. Southern Virginia improved its team scoring average from the previous season:

With strong individual performances and program-wide growth, the Knights now turn their focus to the USA South Conference Tournament, set for April 28–30 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
