BUENA VISTA, Va. - The USA South released its preseason poll ahead of the 2025 women's volleyball season. For the third time in four years, Southern Virginia University lands at the top of the poll and will be the title favorites during their quest for a fourth league championship since 2021.
The Knights claimed five of a possible ten first-place votes, two more than Greensboro College who ranked second. Salem, the defending co-regular season champions, and Meredith each received one vote.

In Debby Baker's eighth season at the helm, the team loses key contributors from last year's championship squad, but with several important returners and a talented mix of freshmen and transfers, there's reason for optimism in 2025.
Junior outside hitter Brookelyn Madland, who totaled nearly 400 kills last season, returns to lead the offense, while Gracie Fulton, the Knights' single-season record holder for digs, will anchor the defense.
In just four seasons as members of the USA South, the Knights have enjoyed historic success. In addition to three tournament championships, they hold a winning percentage of .794 in conference contests, totaling 50 wins during that time.
To open its season, the team is on the road for the Covenant Classic, a two-day tournament hosted by Covenant College. Southern Virginia faces George Fox today, August 29th in their first game at 2:30 PM. They return to the court at 7:30 PM to face the tournament host, Covenant.
