BRIDGEWATER, Va. - In their final tune up before the USA South Indoor Championships, the Southern Virginia University men's and women's track and field teams competed at Bridgewater's Rockingham Collegiate Classic.
Men's Results
Taylor Weiland gave the Knights something to cheer about early on by winning the 5K, nearly ten seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Sawyer Apple qualified for the final of the 60 hurdles where he ultimately finished 8th.

After qualifying for the 60 final in the early session, Eran James ran a blazing 7.03 in the final, good for fifth place and the second fastest time in program history.
Back to the field events, McCormick Johnson established a new personal best indoors in the pole vault, clearing 4.50m (14' 9").
Women's Results
Marin Simons was the early winner on the women' side of things, taking first in the high jump for the second time this season. She nearly eclipsed the indoor program record she established last week, topping out at 1.63m (5' 4").
Kadance Sawyer impressed in the shot put, crushing her previous best mark by throwing for 11.29m (37' 0.25"). On the track, the Knights loaded up for the mile, which helped them take five of the top ten places in the event.Â
Bayeigh Redd-Armstrong became the first in program history to dip under the five-minute barrier, improving on her already region-leading time in the mile. Sasha Braddy and Tessa Miller also notched personal bests, running 5:23.32 and 5:28.35 respectively.
