Eight Southern Virginia University Track & Field Athletes Named To All-Region Team

BUENA VISTA, Va. - On Wednesday morning, the USTFCCCA announced its All-Region honorees for the 2026 NCAA Division lll indoor season.

Eight individuals represent the Southern Virginia University men's and women's track & field teams after one of the most successful indoor seasons in program history.

Athletes are awarded an All-Region nod if they finish the season with a top eight ranking in the South Region for their respective events.

McCormick represents the men's team in the pole vault. Johnson's season best clearance of 4.50m (14' 9"), an indoor personal best for the sophomore, has him 6th amongst regional competitors.

The women's distance medley relay (DMR) team of Amee Newman, Tessa Miller, and Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong is the lone relay to be recognized for the Knights. The quartet recorded the second best time in the region at the Darius Dixon Invite, running 12:18.34, a program record.

Individually, Redd-Armstrong led the region in three of four events she contested, earning All-Region recognition for the 800, mile, 3K, and 5K.

Surraiya Mahmud (PV), Mikki Prows (SP), and Marin Simons (HJ) were others to gain recognition. All three were conference champions in their events.

Redd-Armstrong and Simons will be competing at the NCAA Division lll Indoor Championships this weekend at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
