DOVER, Del.—Despite coming from a 3-0 non-conference victory on Thursday, the Southern Virginia University men's soccer team came up short today in a 3-0 loss against fellow Capital Athletic Conference opponent Wesley College in Dover, Delaware.

The Wolverines scored their first goal in the ninth minute against junior goalkeeper Efren Gutierrez. Wesley would add another goal in the first half and one in the second, both of them from the head of Holden Wingate.

"It's not the result we wanted but we're working through injuries and a consistent lineup," said Southern Virginia head coach Josh Patiño. "We played better in the second half and we had opportunities to equalize. We have some work to do, but we're going in the right direction."

Gutierrez ended the night with nine saves in the loss, bringing his save total in 2014 to 90 with a 5-7 record.

Offensively, the Knights had seven total shot attempts. Sophomore forward Josh Smith had the only shot on goal on the afternoon, with freshman midfielder Brahema Molubah leading all Knights with two total shots.

The Knights are on the road again Wednesday at CAC opponent Mary Washington, and will be back home for Saturday's matchup with York College of Pennsylvania.
