DOVER, Dele.—In a Monday night game at Drass Field the Southern Virginia football team fell to No. 5 Wesley College 59-6, in their third NJAC game of the year.
The Knights (0-4, 0-3 NJAC) seemed to have life when freshman Chris Owens intercepted a Wesley pass on the opening drive. The team was unable to convert, however, and was forced to punt.
The Wolverines (4-0, 3-0 NJAC) then scored eight touchdowns over the next three quarters.
Southern Virginia scored the only touchdown in the fourth quarter, and their only touchdown of the game on a five yard run from Lakeith Hopkins, but was unable to convert the point after attempt.
Quarterback Crosby Jensen recorded 95 yards, 43 of them to wide receiver Collin Pearson. The Knights Jared Watts ran the ball 13 times for 27 yards.
Owens, who had his third career interception also forced and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter.
The Knights have a short week before hosting Montclair State at home on Saturday in the 2015 Homecoming game on October 10. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
