Buena Vista, VA — D3football.com announced its 2025 All-Region selections today, with Southern Virginia University's Ty Smith earning a spot on the Region 3 Third Team as a safety. The sophomore from Pleasant Grove, Utah becomes just the second player in program history to receive All-Region honors, joining Neil Davis, who was recognized in 2019.

Smith delivered one of the most dominant defensive seasons ever recorded by a Knight. He led the USA South Conference in interceptions with four, while also scoring twice for two defensive touchdowns. Nationally, Smith ranked seventh in the country with three fumble recoveries, while his forced fumbles per game also placed him inside the nation's top 10.

In addition to his turnovers, Smith finished the year with 61 tackles, the third-most on the team, and earned USA South All-Conference Second Team recognition for his standout play.

It was a historic season for Smith and another milestone for Southern Virginia football as the program continues to rise on the regional stage.
