Buena Vista, Va. – Southern Virginia University head football coach Joe DuPaix has announced key updates to his coaching staff, highlighted by the addition of Travis Pickup as offensive coordinator and the promotion of Chris Ehorn Jr. to associate head coach.

Pickup joins the Knights after spending the past 10 seasons at Melissa High School in Melissa, Texas, where he served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. During his tenure, he helped guide the program to 97 wins, three district championships, four regional finalist appearances, and a regional championship in 2026.
He began his coaching career at Timpanogos High School as a quarterbacks coach and played collegiately at Utah Tech. Pickup earned his bachelor of science in health education from Brigham Young University. He also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico City.
In addition to the new hire, DuPaix announced the promotion of Chris Ehorn Jr. to associate head coach, while retaining his role as defensive coordinator.. In his first season with the Knights, Ehorn Jr. played a pivotal role in one of the program's most successful defensive campaigns.
Southern Virginia's defense ranked second in the nation in fumble recoveries and third in defensive touchdowns. The unit also finished among the top 20 nationally in turnovers gained and ranked in the top 40 in red zone defense.
With these staff changes, Southern Virginia looks to carry forward one of the strongest seasons in program history and continue elevating the program on both sides of the ball.
