About the Knights
The Southern Virginia football team is looking for it's first win of the year. This will be the Knights fourth conference contest after losing to Wesley College on Monday.
Crosby Jensen and Shawn Honeycutt split time at quarterback averaging 50.3 and 45.5 yards per game, respectively. Jared Watts leads the Knights with 34.5 rushing yards per game and Bryan Lorenzen records an average of 21.5 recieving yards and has one touchdown on the season.
Lakeith Hopkins leads the offense with two touchdowns scored this season, both against NJAC conference opponents Frostburg State and Wesley.
Nick Watterson leads the defense with seven tackles per game. Sam Mellor had a great performance on Monday against Wesley with ten total tackles.
Freshman Chris Owens has three interceptions and two fumble recoveries on the year and was named NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week last week.
About the Red Hawks
Montclair State is 1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. They are coming off a win against William Patterson University 64-7. They have lost to Salisbury University and Rowan University.
Ryan Davies leads the Montclair State offense, averaging 198.2 passing yards. Denzel Nieves rushes an average of 61.8 yards per game and Aaron Williams is averaging 84.2 yards for the receivers.
Bill Shimko and Michael Tenpenny lead the defense with 29 total tackles each.
Pre-game activities start at the Fields at 9 a.m., with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
