EWING, N.J.—The Southern Virginia football team lost a close 23-12 game in Ewing, New Jersey to The College of New Jersey Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter the Knights took a 6-0 lead after Tristen Burnett returned a 54 yard interception. The Knights were unable to score again until the fourth quarter when the defense once again forced a turnover and Morgan Smith scored off of a 98 yard fumble return.
Nathan Wilson led the offense with 48 receiving yards averaging six yards per reception.
The defense had an impressive game with three interceptions and one fumble. Andrew Bair led the defense with 12 tackles and Sam Mellor tallied nine.
Southern Virginia returns home for the final game of the season against Christopher Newport on Saturday, November 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
