BUENA VISTA, Va.— Under the direction of head football coach, Jason Walker, the Knights enter there second season in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The conference is full of high-quality competition and Southern Virginia is looking to improve last year's 1-9 record. In the NJAC pre-season poll, Southern Virginia is picked to finish tenth. Southern Virginia hosts Frostburg state for their first home game of the 2015 season. 

About the Knights
The Knights' offense will be coached by, Scott Clough. Last season, Clough helped the Knights average 16.2 points per game and 266.3 yards per game as well as help earn the first win for Southern Virginia in the NJAC.

The fight for the starting spot at quarterback is in full force between junior Crosby Jensen, sophomore Shawn Honeycutt. As a freshman at Snow College, Jensen passed a total of 1,913 yards and threw a total of 15 touchdowns.  During the 2014 season, Honeycutt played in six games.

Junior Lakeith Hopkins and sophomore John Harris will contribute to the Knights running game. In the 2014 season, Hopkins played in two games earning five yards on eight carries. Harris transferred from King's College and in his freshman year ran for a total of 41 yards. Juniors Bryan Lorenzen returns for the Knights as a wide receiver.

Sophomore Michael Carroll returns in the tight end position. In the 2014 season he was named to the All-NJAC honorable mention offense team. He had 281 receiving yards, 16 receptions, and one touchdown.

Jason Walker will run the Southern Virginia defense this season. Senior Sam Mellor returns after an impressive 2015 season where he recorded 41 tackles and was ranked fifth in the NJAC with 4.5 sacks, eighth with 11 tackles for loss, and third with 62 lost yards.

In the first game of the season had 140 total offensive yards and a touchdown in a 65-10 loss at Rhodes College.

About the Bobcats
Frostburg State is under the direction of second-year head coach, DeLane Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald coached at Southern Virginia from 2009-13.

The Bobcats were picked to finish sixth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. 

Frostburg has started out the 2015 season 1-1 beating Geneva 52-21 and falling to fifth-ranked Wesley College 44-3. They average 302 yards and 27.5 points per game.
