Dover, Del.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory against Wesley College for their first win in the Capital Athletic Conference this season.
Wesley (3-6-2, 1-3 CAC) outshot the Knights (3-8, 1-3 CAC) nine to two in the first half but neither team was able to take a lead going into halftime.
The Knights came together and after multiple good attempts at goal freshman Tyler McElwee found the back of the net to give Southern Virginia the lead in the 69th minute. In the second half Southern Virginia outshot the Wolverines by two.
Auston Bueno and Marrott Weekes each added a shot on goal for Southern Virginia.
In goal, Keenan Carroll led the Knights defense with his first win of the season and five saves.
Southern Virginia travels to the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday, October 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
