Career vs. Lions: 1-3. The Knights beat the Lions in 2014 and fell 23-12 last year on the road.

About the Knights

The Southern Virginia football team returns home after a tough 32-3 loss at Kean. The Knights are looking for their second NJAC win.

The Knights average almost 230 yards and 10 points per game. Defensively Southern Virginia has nine interceptions, seven recovered fumbles and 16 sacks.

Ty Jones was named offensive rookie of the week for the second week in a row after a career-high 82 yards, more than he has thrown all season combined. Defensive lineman Mitch Orme also received conference honors for the second straight time as the defensive rookie of the week after a career-high ten solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss.

Senior Michael Frye leads all rushers with 312 yards, an average of 39 per game.

Southern Virginia Coach Joe DuPaix

Coach DuPaix comes to Southern Virginia from Brigham Young where he served two seasons (2011-12) as the Cougar's recruiting coordinator and running backs coach. Working under then head coach Bronco Mendenhall, DuPaix was part of the staff that led the Cougars to an 18-8 overall record, including back-to-back bowl wins and a 10-win season in 2011.

Before BYU, DuPaix coached the slot backs at the United States Naval Academy. During his three years in Annapolis, the Midshipmen appeared in three consecutive bowl games, won two Commander-In-Chief trophies and ranked in the top-ten nationally for rushing offenses each season. He was also part of Navy's 10-win season in 2009.

In the season opener Coach DuPaix led the Knights to their season-opening win at Earlham College. The Knights defeated the Quakers 28-18. Two weeks ago Coach DuPaix earned his first conference win over William Paterson, 26-17.

Outlook from Coach DuPaix

TCNJ is a well-coached and well-disciplined football team. They are coming off of a win at home, and so are we. We need to play fundamental football and take care of the ball.

The keys to victory this week are first to win the turnover battle, and then to win the special teams battle. There are a lot of yards to be had in controlling field position, and we want to win that battle this week.

About the Lions

The College of New Jersey comes to Buena Vista following their first win of the year, with a 42-28 triumph over William Paterson last week.

The Lions average nine points and 193 yards per game. Of those yards, 102 come on the ground. Chad Scott, who was named NJAC offensive player of the week last week, leads the team with 56.25 yards per game and four touchdowns.
