About the Knights
Southern Virginia returns to the field after their bye week which followed a 28-18 road victory at Earlham College. Week one's win was the first season-opening victory the Knights have had since Aug. 25, 2007.
In game one the Knights unveiled their triple-option offense, totaling 375 total yards including 21 first downs and four rushing touchdowns. Defensively they had four interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Neil Davis was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week and Keenan Galeai earned NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week after their performances in week one.
Southern Virginia Coach Joe DuPaix
Coach DuPaix comes to Southern Virginia from Brigham Young where he served two seasons (2011-12) as the Cougar's recruiting coordinator and running backs coach. Working under then head coach Bronco Mendenhall, DuPaix was part of the staff that led the Cougars to an 18-8 overall record, including back-to-back bowl wins and a 10-win season in 2011.
Before BYU, DuPaix coached the slot backs at the United States Naval Academy. During his three years in Annapolis, the Midshipmen appeared in three consecutive bowl games, won two Commander-In-Chief trophies and ranked in the top-ten nationally for rushing offenses each season. He was also part of Navy's 10-win season in 2009.
Two weeks ago Coach DuPaix led the Knights to their season-opening win at Earlham College. The Knights defeated the Quakers 28-18.
Outlook from Coach DuPaix
This is a unique game for us, we are excited to play under the lights for the only time this season, against a very good, athletic program that has a coach that understands both programs.
We need to execute at a high level in order to move the ball against this team, it's going to be a battle.
The bye week was a critical week for us to get healthy and learn and grow as a program with a new team and new staff. We know ourselves better now, and need to play perfectly after a good week of practices.
About the Bobcats
Frostburg State is looking for their first conference win of the year after a 43-7 loss at No. 17 Wesley College last week. The team is 1-1, however, with a 31-10 season-opening win over Geneva.
The Bobcats return 19 starters from last year, including the NJAC Special Teams Player of the Year Austin Bonsall (punter) and Rookie of the Year Connor Cox (quarterback).
This season Frostburg averages 19 points per game, 17 first downs and 292.5 yards of total offense.
