FROSTBURG, Md.—The Southern Virginia football team fell 24-7 in its conference opener at Frostburg State University on Saturday.
The Knights (1-1, 0-1 NJAC) struggled to move the ball, totaling only 161 yards of total offense, compared to 375 yards in game one. Southern Virginia's defense, however, held the Bobcats (2-1, 1-1 NJAC) to 191 yards of total offense and recorded an interception, two fumbles and blocked extra point.
Frostburg jumped on the board in the first quarter with a touchdown run after a fumble recovery. The went into halftime with a 12-0 lead, and doubled their lead in the third quarter.
The Knights were finally able to reach the end zone in the fourth quarter on a two-yard run by quarterback Ty Jones.
Southern Virginia will host Salisbury on Saturday, September 24, in its home opener. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. EST.
