Buena Vista, Va. — Southern Virginia University head football coach Joe DuPaix has announced key updates to the coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. Mark Murdoch has been promoted to Associate Head Coach while continuing his role as Offensive Coordinator, and Chris Ehorn Jr. has been named the new Defensive Coordinator.
Ehorn brings extensive coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels. Most recently, he served as Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator at Westfield State University, where he led the top rushing defense in the MASCAC, produced a Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year, and developed multiple All-Conference players. Before that, he was the Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach at Western New England University, helping the team to a New England Bowl Championship while coaching a defense that allowed just 17.6 points per game.
Ehorn also has experience as a Head Coach at Amherst Regional High School, where he revitalized the program, leading the team to three league championships and a regional title, as well as a trip to the 2019 Division 5 State Finals.
Head Coach Joe DuPaix expressed his excitement about the coaching staff updates, stating:
"I couldn't be more excited about the addition of Coach Ehorn to join our program! The responsibilities for both he and Coach Murdoch are very deserving! Having great men lead in the development of the character of our football team while being experts in the X's & O's is a huge benefit to our football program! The Christlike environment that we have here is so special and both of these men align with our mission"
Southern Virginia Football will begin spring preparations under the direction of its new-look coaching staff as the Knights continue to build toward the 2025 season.
